District school boards must review their out-of-school and in-school suspension rules every 3 years at a public board meeting

Reviews must include data on suspended students' disability status, race, gender, and recidivism rates, as well as examination of academic and counseling programs available to suspended students

Parents are authorized to provide public testimony at board meetings reviewing suspension policies

Board rules authorizing suspensions automatically expire if the required triennial review meeting is not held

All suspension hearings are exempt from Chapter 120 (Administrative Procedure Act) provisions; effective date July 1, 2019
