Creates a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway option for earning a standard high school diploma beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, requiring 18 credits and a minimum 2.0 GPA

Requires 3 credits each in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science, plus 3.5 credits in social studies (including a new half-credit in financial literacy)

Mandates 3 credits in career and technical education courses resulting in program completion and industry certification, plus 2.5 credits in work-based learning programs

Allows students with approved industry certifications to substitute up to one mathematics credit (except Algebra I and Geometry) and up to two science credits (except Biology I)

Requires principals or designated academic advisors to inform parents and students of the CTE pathway option, establish participation request processes, and meet with students whose GPA falls below 2.0
