HB 861 - Local Government Financial Reporting Summary

• County and municipal budget officers must electronically submit annual budget and economic data to the Office of Economic and Demographic Research by October 15 each year, beginning in 2019, including government spending per resident, debt per resident, employee salaries, median income, and special taxing district information.

• Tentative budgets must be posted on county and municipal websites at least 2 days before public hearings and remain posted for at least 45 days.

• Final adopted budgets must be posted on official websites within 30 days of adoption and remain posted for at least 2 years.

• Adopted budget amendments must be posted on municipal websites within 5 days of adoption and remain posted for at least 2 years.

• The Office of Economic and Demographic Research must establish the format and forms for budget reporting by July 15, 2019.
