HB 1013 Summary

• Repeals statutes that automatically suspended or revoked driver licenses for drug offenses (18+), alcohol/drug/tobacco offenses (under 18), providing alcohol to minors, theft, worthless checks, and firearm/graffiti violations by minors.

• Eliminates mandatory driver license suspensions for providing alcoholic beverages to persons under 21 and for persons under 21 who possess alcoholic beverages.

• Removes driver license suspension provisions for minors who unlawfully possess firearms, place graffiti on property, fail to comply with sexting citations, or are convicted of petit theft for gasoline theft.

• Retains court discretion to direct suspension or revocation of driving privileges in certain cases, including for third or subsequent violations of tobacco/nicotine possession and age misrepresentation by minors within a 12-week period.

• Takes effect July 1, 2019.
