HB 1027 Summary

• Amends section 1002.82 to require the Office of Early Learning to include professional development pathways in preservice and inservice training requirements for school readiness providers.

• Creates section 1002.995 requiring the Office of Early Learning to develop training and course standards for school readiness program providers.

• Directs the office to identify formal and informal early learning career pathways with stackable credentials and certifications that strengthen teaching practices, align to professional standards, and improve kindergarten readiness outcomes.

• Requires credentials and certifications to align with K-12 teacher, reading coach, and school principal training standards under section 1001.215(3) to the greatest extent possible.

• Takes effect July 1, 2019.
