• Requests Congress to modernize personal income taxes by closing tax loopholes, simplifying tax returns, and making tax payment less regressive.

• Requests Congress to reform corporate income taxes to ensure minimum tax compliance, eliminate offshore tax havens and special interest exemptions, and close tax loopholes.

• Requests Congress to increase the federal minimum wage in incremental steps to represent a living wage and provide substantially increased funding for unemployment assistance, job training, temporary assistance to needy families, affordable housing, and food assistance programs.

• Requests Congress to increase funding for early childhood education, public schools, vocational and technical education, health care cost containment including prescription drug costs, and multiyear infrastructure repair and enhancement for roads, highways, bridges, and buildings.

• Requests Congress to ensure adequate federal law and agency funding for regulation of financial institutions and investment firms, and appoint a special study commission to examine consumer protection adequacy across credit, automobile loans, mortgages, telemarketing, and employment law.
