HB 6071 Summary

• Deletes the requirement that district school boards conduct a cost-benefit analysis before voting on a resolution to implement exceptions to educational facilities construction requirements

• Removes the need for analysis to demonstrate cost savings, efficient resource use, and impacts on life-cycle costs and facility lifespan

• Eliminates the requirement to demonstrate that exceptions will not compromise student safety or quality of instruction

• District school boards retain the ability to adopt construction exceptions with a supermajority vote at a public meeting beginning no earlier than 5 p.m.

• Effective date: July 1, 2019
