Compensation includes $1,133,150.69 for incarceration time (at $50,000 per year), approximately $24,000 for tuition equivalent, $500 for court costs/fines paid, and $40,000 for defense attorney fees

Bartek was initially disqualified from standard wrongful incarceration compensation under Chapter 961 due to a prior nonviolent felony conviction for sale of cannabis, and his petition was also dismissed as untimely filed

Total attorney fees, including the $40,000 defense fee reimbursement, are capped at 25% of the total award

Takes effect upon becoming law and represents sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the wrongful incarceration
