Prohibits the sale, transfer, distribution, importation, and possession of assault weapons (including all AK and AR series rifles, Sig Sauer MCX) and large-capacity magazines (holding more than 7 rounds) in Florida, effective October 1, 2019

Requires current owners of assault weapons or large-capacity magazines to apply for a certificate of possession from the Department of Law Enforcement by October 1, 2020, and restricts where such grandfathered weapons may be possessed (home, business, shooting ranges, gun shows)

Establishes criminal penalties including third-degree felony with 2-year mandatory minimum for illegal sale/transfer, second-degree felony with 6-year mandatory minimum for transfers to persons under 21, and third-degree felony with 1-year mandatory minimum for illegal possession

Creates exemptions for law enforcement, military personnel, licensed gun dealers (for out-of-state sales only), and permanently inoperable firearms

Enhances sentencing for specified violent felonies committed with assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, imposing 15-year minimum for possession, 20-year minimum for discharge, and 25 years to life if discharge causes death or great bodily harm
