Beginning October 1, 2019, a uniform fire alarm permit application must be used for any project requiring a fire alarm permit, submitted to the local enforcement agency with required drawings and plans, and may be submitted electronically or by facsimile.

Contractors may begin repairs to existing fire alarm systems upon filing the uniform fire alarm permit application if the local enforcement agency requires fire alarm permits for repairs.

The State Fire Marshal must adopt rules establishing a uniform summary inspection report format and submission procedures for fire hydrants and fire protection systems that may be submitted by mail, hand delivery, electronic submission, or through third-party vendors.

Condominium associations must ensure reasonable compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code, with high-rise residential condominiums permitted to install either a fire sprinkler system or an engineered life safety system, with completion deadline extended to January 1, 2024.

By July 1, 2019, the State Fire Marshal must issue a data call to collect information on high-rise condominiums over 75 feet in height that have not retrofitted with fire sprinklers or engineered life safety systems, with compiled report due to the Governor and Legislature by September 1, 2020.
