Requires instructional materials for middle grades civics education courses to be reviewed and approved by the Commissioner of Education in consultation with specified organizations including the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship, Bill of Rights Institute, Hillsdale College, Gilder Lehrman Institute, iCivics, and Constitutional Sources Project.

Mandates the Commissioner identify and correct any errors and inaccuracies in state-adopted civics materials pursuant to s. 1006.35.

Requires the Commissioner to review current civics instructional materials and statewide EOC assessment test specifications and make recommendations for improvements by December 31, 2019.

Directs the Department of Education to complete a review of statewide civics education course standards by December 31, 2020.

Removes obsolete language regarding the 2012-2013 school year and 2013-2014 school year implementation dates.
