SB 1606 Summary

• Requires nursing home facilities to provide service providers with free and reasonable access to residents, prohibiting facilities from charging fees for such access.

• Prohibits assisted living facilities from charging fees to entities or individuals providing health, social, legal, or other services to residents for reasonable access to those residents.

• Requires assisted living facilities to provide written reasons for resident relocation or termination of residency to the resident or their legal representative.

• Mandates that assisted living facilities send a copy of any relocation or termination notice to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program representative within 24 hours.

• Effective date: July 1, 2019.
