Sheriffs shall coordinate with county commissioners and circuit court chief judges to develop a comprehensive security plan for trial court facilities, consistent with counties' constitutional obligation to fund court security

Sheriffs retain authority over implementing and providing law enforcement services associated with the security plan

Chief judges retain decision-making authority to protect due process rights, including scheduling and conducting trials and judicial proceedings under their administrative supervision responsibilities

Sheriffs and their deputies, employees, and contractors are designated as officers of the court when providing security for trial court facilities

The act takes effect July 1, 2020
