Board of Supervisors members for Sunshine Drainage District must be elected by qualified electors of the district rather than through other methods, with the first election held in conjunction with the November 2024 general election.

Three board seats (designated seat 1, 2, and 3) will be elected at-large within the district, with initial terms staggered at 4 years for seats 1 and 2, and 2 years for seat 3, followed by 4-year terms thereafter.

Elections are nonpartisan, and candidates must be electors and residents of the district who file with the Broward County Supervisor of Elections and pay a qualifying fee of 3% plus 1% election assessment of the annual salary, or alternatively submit a petition signed by at least 1% of qualified electors.

Current board members serving as of October 1, 2018 will continue until certification of the November 2024 general election results.

Qualified elector is defined as any U.S. citizen at least 18 years old who is a permanent Florida resident and resident of Broward County where the district lands are located.
