Kareem Hawari suffered a brainstem hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury after hitting his head during the match, resulting in permanent disability affecting motor coordination and speech

The injury occurred due to negligent supervision by coaches who lacked formal training and matched Hawari against a larger, stronger, more experienced opponent who was a county champion wrestler

Total settlement reached was $3.6 million, of which $100,000 was previously paid under statutory liability limits; medical expenses totaled $708,309.92

Attorney fees are capped at 25 percent of the total amount awarded under this act
