Aguirre-Jarquin spent 10 years and 8 months on death row before the Florida Supreme Court unanimously vacated his convictions in October 2016 based on new DNA evidence pointing to another suspect who confessed multiple times

Compensation will be paid through an annuity purchased by the Chief Financial Officer within 20 days of Aguirre-Jarquin's selection of an insurance company or financial institution

Waives tuition and fees for up to 120 credit hours at any Florida career center, Florida College System institution, or state university, contingent on meeting admission requirements and maintaining satisfactory academic progress

Award represents sole compensation for all claims; prohibits any further awards including attorney fees, lobbying fees, or costs from any state entity
