Amends s. 383.318, F.S. to require birth centers to include cardiovascular screening of newborns as part of postpartum evaluation and followup care.

Renumbers existing postpartum care components for birth centers (metabolic screening, pediatric care referral, maternal assessment, depression information, child care instruction, family planning, and secondary/tertiary care referral).

Amends s. 395.1053, F.S. to require hospitals providing birthing services to include cardiovascular screening of each newborn in their postpartum evaluation.

Maintains existing hospital requirements for incorporating safe sleep practices and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death information into postpartum instruction.

Effective date: July 1, 2020.
