Authorizes district school boards and charter school governing boards to allow up to 1 mental health day per semester as an excused absence for students.

Mental health days must be included in district policies relating to student absences and are treated the same as other excused absences.

Does not change existing procedures for tracking absences, contacting parents about unexcused absences, or implementing interventions for patterns of nonattendance.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
