Creates a public records exemption for "postconviction reinvestigative information" compiled by state attorneys or criminal justice agencies investigating whether a convicted person may be innocent of their crime

Exemption applies only during ongoing, good faith investigations of actual innocence claims and ends when the investigation concludes or relief is granted

Protects sensitive information such as identities and locations of alternate suspects, witnesses, and evidence needed to potentially exonerate wrongfully convicted individuals

Designed to encourage witnesses to come forward with evidence by protecting their identities during reinvestigations

Subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and automatically repeals on October 2, 2025, unless reenacted by the Legislature; effective date of July 1, 2020
