Women inmates who give birth 1 month before or within 9 months after being detained or sentenced must be allowed visitation with their newborn child at least 4 days per week for 1-2 hours per visit until the child reaches 1 year of age

Mothers must be permitted physical contact with their newborns during visits, including holding, hugging, kissing, breastfeeding, cleaning, and changing the child's clothes

Facilities unable to consistently provide required visitation hours may make reasonable accommodations to ensure consistent visitation

Inmates with convictions for sexual offenses, child abuse, or sex acts against children under 16 may not receive these visitation privileges with minors under 18 unless the warden approves special visitation based on extenuating circumstances

The Department of Corrections is authorized to adopt rules implementing these visitation requirements
