• Creates section 444.012, Florida Statutes, establishing payroll contributions to finance a family and medical leave insurance benefits program

• Requires employers and employees to make payroll contributions at a 1:1 ratio in amounts determined by the Department of Financial Services

• Assigns the Department of Financial Services responsibility for evaluating and determining annually the contribution amounts and maximum employee contributions needed to finance the program

• Takes effect contingent upon HB 1245 or similar legislation being adopted in the same legislative session or extension thereof and becoming law
