HB 1477 - Telehealth

• Requires the Agency for Health Care Administration to reimburse telehealth services (real-time, store-and-forward, and remote patient monitoring) under Medicaid, subject to appropriations and legislative limitations.

• Authorizes out-of-state providers registered under Florida law and enrolled in Medicaid to receive reimbursement for telehealth services provided to Florida recipients.

• Allows telehealth providers to prescribe Schedule III, IV, and V controlled substances only for psychiatric disorders, inpatient hospital treatment, hospice services, or nursing home residents; prohibits Schedule I and II prescriptions via telehealth.

• Permits registered pharmacy technicians to compound and dispense medications under remote supervision of an off-site pharmacist at new "remote-site pharmacy" locations, with licensing, video surveillance, and oversight requirements.

• Redefines "supervision" for physician assistants and other providers to include telehealth communication, and takes effect July 1, 2021.
