Board of supervisors for Sunshine Drainage District expanded from current size to five members effective November 5, 2024, with members elected by qualified electors instead of appointed.

Five seats (Seat 1-5) elected at-large within the district; candidates must be electors and residents of the district with qualifying fee of 3 percent of annual salary or petition signed by 1 percent of qualified electors.

First election held in November 2024 with staggered terms: Seats 1-3 elected for 4 years each, Seats 4-5 elected for 2 years; thereafter all members serve 4-year terms with elections every 2 years.

Elections conducted as nonpartisan by Broward County Supervisor of Elections in accordance with Florida Election Code and Chapter 106; board members assume office on second Tuesday following election.

Referendum election held November 8, 2022 to approve charter amendment; full implementation effective upon majority approval by qualified district electors voting in referendum.
