HM 1509 - Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

• Urges Congress to authorize installation of electric vehicle charging stations at rest areas along the interstate highway system.

• Requests that Congress allow charging station service providers to charge fees for public use of stations installed in these rest areas.

• Identifies gaps in charging station availability as a barrier to electric vehicle adoption nationwide and in Florida.

• Emphasizes that electric vehicles reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help mitigate sea-level rise impacts, which are particularly threatening to Florida's 8,000+ miles of coastline and 75 percent coastal population.

• Directs Florida's Secretary of State to send copies of the memorial to the President, Congressional leadership, and all Florida members of Congress.
