HB 1575 - Stop Fracking Act

• Defines "extreme well stimulation" as injecting fluids into rock formations to propagate fractures or dissolve rock to increase oil or gas well production, including acid fracturing, matrix acidizing, and pneumatic fracturing, while excluding routine well maintenance and cleanout work.

• Prohibits any person from engaging in extreme well stimulation anywhere in Florida.

• Prohibits the Department of Environmental Protection from issuing oil or gas drilling or operating permits that authorize extreme well stimulation.

• Prohibits the department from authorizing any current permit holders to engage in extreme well stimulation on or after July 1, 2021.

• Establishes civil penalties of up to $50,000 per offense for violations, with each day of violation constituting a separate offense.
