Appropriates $17.715 million from the General Revenue Fund to compensate Christeia Jones and her three minor sons (Logan Grant, Denard Maybin Jr., and Lanard Maybin) for injuries sustained in a May 18, 2014 automobile accident caused by Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Raul Umana on I-75 south of Ocala.

All three children sustained severe traumatic brain injuries requiring ongoing medical care and rehabilitation; Logan Grant and Denard Maybin Jr. are expected to require lifelong guardianship and attendant care and will be unable to achieve gainful employment.

Payment is made minus outstanding Medicaid liens totaling approximately $254,520.65 for medical expenses already paid by Medicaid for the victims.

Limits attorney fees to $3,543,000, lobbying fees to $885,750, and other costs or expenses to $34,841.92 from the appropriated amount.

Takes effect July 1, 2021; provides sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the accident.
