Creates section 901.44 in Florida Statutes establishing a duty for law enforcement officers to render medical assistance to individuals in custody.

Requires officers who become aware or have reason to be aware that a person in custody is injured, needs immediate medical attention, or requests such attention to examine the individual and provide first aid or seek medical assistance.

Limits the duty to assistance that is reasonable based on the totality of the circumstances.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
