Requires individual health insurance policies and HMO contracts to cover hearing aids for dependent children 18 years or younger diagnosed with hearing loss by a licensed physician or audiologist when medically necessary.

Mandates minimum coverage of at least $3,500 per ear in any 24-month period and allows limitation of ear mold coverage to six per 24-month period.

Requires hearing aids to be prescribed, fitted, and dispensed by licensed physicians (Chapter 458 or 459) or licensed audiologists (Part I of Chapter 468).

Allows a new 24-month benefit period with full coverage if a child experiences significant and unexpected hearing changes or medical conditions requiring prescription changes before the current period expires.

Applies to policies and contracts issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2022, with an effective date of January 1, 2022.
