Creates a new statute allowing Florida courts to appoint advocates to represent the interests of animals in legal proceedings involving animal welfare, care, custody, or animal-related crimes.

Court-appointed advocates must be selected from a list maintained by The Florida Bar's Animal Law Section and can be attorneys or certified legal interns who complete required training.

Advocates shall monitor cases, access relevant files and documents, share information with parties, and present recommendations to the court based on their knowledge or specialist expertise regarding the animal's interests.

Advocates may consult with individuals having relevant information, review records from animal control and veterinary sources, attend hearings, and provide victim impact statements to the court.

Takes effect July 1, 2021.
