Prohibits health insurers from retroactively denying claims based on insured ineligibility more than 1 year after the date of payment.

Prohibits health insurers from retroactively denying claims at any time if the insurer verified the insured's eligibility at the time of treatment or provided an authorization number.

Applies the same retroactive claim denial prohibitions to health maintenance organizations regarding subscriber ineligibility.

Effective January 1, 2022.
