CS for CS for SB 1906 - Reemployment Assistance

• Reduces work search requirements from five to three prospective employers per week (or two in small counties), and allows claimants to satisfy requirements by submitting resumes through online job search services.

• Establishes an "alternative base period" (four most recently completed calendar quarters) that can be used to calculate wages if an individual is ineligible based on standard base period wages, with a minimum threshold of $3,400.

• Increases minimum weekly benefit amount from $32 to $100 and maximum from $275 to $375; increases maximum total benefit amount during a benefit year from $6,325 to $9,375.

• Expands unemployment benefit duration from maximum 23 weeks to 25 weeks when state unemployment rate equals or exceeds 10.5 percent, and increases base duration from 12 to 14 weeks when unemployment is at or below 5 percent.

• Prohibits the Department of Economic Opportunity from denying reemployment assistance solely based on pregnancy.
