All students participating in interscholastic athletics must pass a yearly medical evaluation, with electrocardiograms required for specified student groups starting in the 2022-2023 school year

For the 2022-2023 school year, all participating students must receive an electrocardiogram; beginning in 2023-2024, only first-time athletes in grades 6-8 and grades 9-12 (first time since entering grade 9) are required to receive electrocardiograms

Medical evaluations must be administered by licensed practitioners (physicians, osteopaths, nurses, or registered physician assistants) and incorporate American Heart Association cardiovascular screening recommendations

Parents may exempt their child from medical evaluation or electrocardiogram based on religious tenets or practices, or by providing a written medical recommendation from a licensed physician or osteopath stating the electrocardiogram is not required

Parents objecting to electrocardiograms on religious grounds must provide written liability release from a Florida Bar attorney; exempted students' participation carries no liability for schools regarding injuries from undisclosed medical conditions
