HB 155 Summary

• Students awarded a certificate of completion under section 1003.4282 are eligible to enroll in workforce education programs at career centers and charter technical career centers.

• Charter technical career centers must identify which workforce education programs are available for students who have earned a certificate of completion.

• Before awarding a certificate of completion, schools must advise students of available educational options including workforce education programs, adult general education programs, and the option to remain in high school for up to 1 additional year to remediate deficiencies.

• Students earning required credits but failing standardized assessments or achieving below a 2.0 GPA receive a certificate of completion in a form prescribed by the State Board of Education.

• The act takes effect July 1, 2022.
