Charter school sponsors must approve or deny requests to consolidate multiple charters within 60 days of submission.

If a consolidation request is denied, the sponsor must provide specific reasons in reasonable detail to the charter school's governing board within 10 days.

Charter schools automatically renew with the same terms and conditions if the sponsor fails to notify the governing board in writing at least 90 days before the end of the school year.

Charter sponsors must provide written notice of proposed renewal, non-renewal, or termination actions at least 90 days before the end of the school year, with the notice stating grounds for the proposed action in reasonable detail.

The act takes effect July 1, 2022.
