CS/HB 251 Summary

• Effective July 1, 2022, participation in the Florida Retirement System's Senior Management Service Class becomes compulsory for each district's assistant regional counsel supervisors.

• Expands on existing compulsory participation requirements that applied to criminal conflict and civil regional counsel, chiefs, administrative directors, and chief investigators since July 1, 2020.

• Permits Senior Management Service Class members to purchase additional retirement credit retroactively to October 1, 2007, and upgrade retirement credit for creditable service, except through employer contributions on behalf of the member.

• Appropriates $880,119 in recurring General Revenue Fund monies for fiscal year 2022-2023 to the Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel offices for retirement benefit payments.

• Effective date is July 1, 2022.
