HB 333 Summary

• Initial medical marijuana certifications require physicians to conduct in-person physical examinations, while certification renewals may be conducted through telehealth as defined in Florida statute s. 456.47.

• Qualified physicians must evaluate existing patients at least once every 30 weeks before issuing new certifications, with evaluations permitted through telehealth.

• Physicians issuing renewal certifications must document whether patients experienced adverse drug interactions with other medications or achieved reductions in use or dependence on other controlled substances.

• Renewal evaluation findings must be reported to the department, which forwards reports to the Consortium for Medical Marijuana Clinical Outcomes Research.

• The act takes effect July 1, 2022.
