Redefines "minor" as any person under age 16 (previously 18) for purposes of firearm storage and negligence laws under sections 784.05, 790.115, and 790.174

Creates felony of third degree for adults storing or leaving loaded firearms within reach of minors who use them to cause injury or death; misdemeanor of second degree for minors storing firearms accessed by other minors

Requires firearm sellers or transferors to provide purchasers with written warnings, basic firearm safety brochures from nonprofit organizations, demonstrations of firearm locking mechanisms, and information on local voluntary safety programs

Establishes misdemeanor penalties for improper firearm storage when minors gain access and possess or exhibit the weapon in public, in a rude/threatening manner, during law violations, or when causing serious bodily harm

Requires child-placing agencies to obtain written acknowledgment from prospective adoptive parents that they received safe storage information during home studies

Takes effect October 1, 2022
