CS/HB 369 - Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate Cards

• Defines "registration certificate card" as a driver license-sized card containing all information from a motor vehicle certificate of registration.

• Requires the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to issue registration certificate cards upon request when owners or lessees apply for or renew vehicle registration.

• Expands documents that vehicle operators must possess or carry to include registration certificate cards, with violations constituting noncriminal traffic infractions.

• Allows registration certificate cards to be transferred between vehicles, surrendered, or requested by surviving spouses of deceased vehicle owners at no additional tax cost.

• Effective date is July 1, 2022, contingent upon HB 371 or similar legislation being enacted in the same legislative session.
