Amends Florida Statutes section 1003.42 to require instructional staff in public schools to teach the history of African Americans, including pre-colonial African history, the development of slavery, the Middle Passage, enslavement, abolition, and African American contributions to society.

Instructional materials must include contributions of African Americans to American society.

Encourages instructional staff to include the history of local African-American cemeteries in African American history instruction when practicable.

Encourages the State Board of Education to adopt standards and pursue assessment of these instructional requirements.

Takes effect July 1, 2022.
