CS/HB 469 Summary

• Expands unlicensed persons' authority to assist patients with self-administration of medications and other specified tasks in home health agencies and assisted living facilities with written informed consent.

• Authorizes certified nursing assistants and home health aides to administer oral, topical, and certain other non-injectable prescription medications to patients in county detention facilities under registered nurse delegation.

• Establishes that the person in an ambulance with the highest medical certification in Florida is in charge of patient care during interfacility transfers of advanced life support ambulances.

• Clarifies that registered nurses may not delegate Schedule II, III, or IV controlled substances except for pre-filled insulin syringes and insulin pens.

• Takes effect July 1, 2022.
