Repeals the June 11, 1974 Lee County School Board resolution that established an appointed superintendent position, reversing a change approved by voters in the November 5, 1974 general election.

Changes the Lee County Superintendent of Schools from an appointed position to an elected position with a 4-year term in a partisan election, beginning with the 2024 general election.

Calls for a referendum election on November 8, 2022 asking Lee County voters whether to approve the change from an appointed to an elected superintendent.

The referendum becomes effective upon passage, with the full act taking effect only if approved by a majority of Lee County voters in the November 8, 2022 referendum.

The referendum election shall be conducted by the Lee County Supervisor of Elections in accordance with the Florida Election Code.
