Florida House Memorial urging the U.S. Congress to repeal the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (H.R. 1249), which was signed into law on September 16, 2011

The Act changed the U.S. patent system from "first to invent" to "first inventor to file," eliminated interference proceedings, and created post-grant opposition procedures

The memorial argues the Act makes it harder for patent owners to assert their rights and disproportionately benefits large corporations over small inventors

Copies of the memorial would be sent to the U.S. President, Senate President, House Speaker, and all members of Florida's congressional delegation
