HB 595 Summary

• Exempts home addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, and photographs of the chair, commissioners, and hearing officers of the Public Employees Relations Commission from public records requirements under s. 119.071, Florida Statutes.

• Extends the exemption to spouses and children of these personnel, including their names, home addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, places of employment, and school/day care facility locations.

• Allows exempted individuals to request release of their exempt information to authorized parties through written, notarized requests to the custodial agency.

• Requires written and notarized requests to maintain exemption status for non-employer custodial agencies; county property appraisers and tax collectors must remove exempt individuals' names from publicly available property records by October 1, 2021.

• Exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and repeals October 2, 2024, unless reenacted; effective date is July 1, 2022.
