Repeals section 790.33, F.S., which previously preempted local jurisdiction regulation of firearms and ammunition to the state Legislature.

Amends section 790.251 to apply firearm protections in motor vehicles to all public sector employers without reference to the repealed preemption statute.

Maintains existing prohibitions on employers from restricting legally owned firearms lawfully stored in locked private vehicles in parking lots.

Maintains existing prohibitions on employers from inquiring about, searching for, or discriminating against employees based on firearms lawfully stored in vehicles.

Takes effect July 1, 2022.
