Expands transportation requirements for students with hazardous walking conditions from elementary students (grades K-6) to all public school students in kindergarten through grade 12.

Changes the definition of "reasonable walking distance" from a state board-defined standard to a fixed distance of 2 miles from the nearest appropriate school.

Requires district school superintendents to request a review of hazardous walking conditions upon receipt of a written request from a parent, and mandates (rather than authorizes) district school boards to initiate legal proceedings under chapter 86 to challenge governmental entity determinations.

Updates funding provisions in section 1011.68 to reflect the expanded eligibility for transportation assistance due to hazardous walking conditions.

Takes effect July 1, 2022.
