Owner of self-service storage facility must notify tenant by written notice (in person, email, or first-class mail) and, if tenant provided alternative contact information in rental agreement, must also notify that alternative contact person.

Advertisement of lien sale must be published once a week for 2 consecutive weeks in a newspaper or on a public website that customarily conducts personal property auctions (reduced from previous requirement).

Sale or other disposition of property must take place at least 15 days after first publication of advertisement (increased from 10 days).

Rental agreements and applications must inform tenants they may provide an alternative contact person's name, address, and email address, and that this person may only be contacted for lien notice purposes and has no interest in stored contents.

Act takes effect July 1, 2023.
