CS/HB 1125 Summary

• Creates the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact to streamline teacher licensure across member states and support relocation of eligible military spouses by establishing a collective regulatory framework

• Establishes the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact Commission with one commissioner per member state and an eight-member executive committee to implement and enforce the compact

• Allows teachers holding unencumbered licenses in one member state to receive equivalent licenses in other member states without additional requirements, except military spouses may have limited encumbrances

• Compact becomes effective when the tenth state enacts it; member states can withdraw with 6 months' notice but must continue reporting investigative and adverse action information during the notice period

• Updates references in the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children from "10 U.S.C. chapters 1209 and 1211" to "10 U.S.C. ss. 1209 and 1211" and takes effect July 1, 2023
