CS/CS/HB 1155 Summary

• Requires local licensing agencies or the Department of Children and Families to issue a provisional license or registration for child care facilities, family day care homes, and large family child care homes within 30 calendar days of receiving a complete application (minus background screening results).

• Establishes eligibility criteria for provisional licensing: applicant must be seeking initial licensure, have made adequate health and safety provisions, and meet specified training and background screening requirements.

• Allows provisional licenses for applicants who hold a valid United States Department of Defense child care certificate or who completed DOD training and background screening within the previous 12 months with a favorable suitability determination.

• Permits provisional licenses for applicants who possessed a valid child care license or certificate in another U.S. jurisdiction within the past 12 months that has substantially similar screening and training requirements and was not subject to disciplinary action.

• Takes effect upon becoming law.
