Knowingly releasing or allowing escape of nonnative venomous reptiles constitutes a Level Four violation, punishable as a felony of the third degree.

Knowingly releasing or allowing escape of nonnative venomous reptiles or reptiles of concern constitutes a Level Three violation under existing law.

Purchasing, selling, attempting to sell, offering for sale, bartering, exchanging, trading, or importing venomous reptiles for sale or use without a special permit or license from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission constitutes a Level Four violation.

The penalty structure for Level Four violations includes felony of the third degree classification, punishable under sections 775.082 or 775.083 of Florida law.

The act takes effect July 1, 2023.
