CS/HB 1177 Summary

• Amends Florida Medicaid law to authorize reimbursement for dental services provided by mobile dental units under specified conditions, reversing a prior prohibition on such reimbursements.

• Defines "mobile dental unit" as a nonfacility unit where dental equipment is transported to and used temporarily at out-of-office locations.

• Permits Medicaid reimbursement for mobile dental units that have contractual relationships with the Department of Health, federally qualified health centers, state-approved dental educational institutions, nonprofit community health centers, or federally approved Head Start centers.

• Allows mobile dental units to provide reimbursable services to Medicaid recipients age 21 and older at nursing facilities for both adult and children's dental services.

• Takes effect July 1, 2023.
